The Pickle Factory in Bristol will host a momentous event commemorating 30 years of South Africa's democracy on the 27th April 2024.
Celebrated as Freedom Day annually in South Africa this significant milestone will be celebrated with a blend of live music, a film screening, traditional African dancing, a “make your own freedom flag” workshop, and a new mural of Nelson Mandela will be painted during the event to honour the journey of South Africa towards freedom and equality.
Preceded by Director Oliver Schmitz's cult classic Mapantsula, one of the most influential films to ever be produced and exported out of Africa, restored in glorious 4K.
The award winning director will be joining us for a panel discussion afterwards, including Dr Jacqueline Mainguard from University of Bristol , screening is curated by Afrika Eye Film Festival, tickets sold seperately .
