Soma Soma at The Stable, Bristol

A gig on Saturday 20th August. The event starts at 22:00.

Bristol’s Anglo-Brazilian groovers have successfully pulled off a clever blend of Afro-Latin influences which can only be defined as their own SOMA SOMA sound. Jorge Ben meets Pat Thomas sort of thing.

Having recently released their second studio album ‘Água Viva’, the band has made appearances in shows on Jazz FM and on BBC 6 including the Gilles Peterson, Cerys Matthews and Gideon Coe shows and has come from a succession of sold out shows in Bristol, London and Cornwall.

"Brazilian percussion underpins Afrobeat brass lines: it's quite hard to wind anything new on those well-worn [but classic] spindles, but SS have a darn good go. And a double dose of dance oblivion if you're a Huxley fan." The Bell Inn
