Reignite: Raise the bar - Saili Katebe + Guests at The Station
£1 Concession, £5 Standard, £15 Pay it forward

A event held at The Station on Wednesday 15th December. The event starts at 19:30.

Raise the Bar presents a wonderful evening of fresh poetry, music and movement, as part of Reignite Festival - a creative arts festival celebrating the creativity of young people, produced by Millie Wood Downie, and hosted by Creative Youth Network.
We kick off this brilliant festival with this night run by Raise the Bar. The event will be a celebration of expression, featuring an open mic session giving space to budding voices to speak their truths.
Get ready for a special inter-disciplinary collaboration between Bristol based movement artist Deepraj Singh and spoken word poet Saili Katebe (The Blissful Nomad), celebrating how different disciplines can come together to tell a story.
Our line up of spoken word artists also includes the powerful voices of poets Malizah and Callum Wensley.
-------------------
Saili Katabe is a writer, a poet, a spoken artist. Often writing under the pen name The Blissful Nomad, he uses poetry and theatre to exercise his curiosity and perfect the art of recklessness, challenging his language and its hidden music. He co-hosts Bristol’s leading spoken word night Raise The Bar, is a BBC Poetry Slam runner-up, and a Milk Poetry Superslam winner. In 2019, he was the poet-in-residence for the SS Great Britain.
-------------------
Deepraj Singh is a Bristol-based dance artist and choreographer. Having received his training at London Contemporary Dance School his professional practice has included developing new work as part of Tribe Dance Theatre and touring India and the UK with Gary Clarke’s acclaimed work The Troth. As an artist Singh also dedicates his platform and role to encourage better representation of individuals from Asian/Indian backgrounds in the cultural sector.
-------------------
Malizah is a writer, spoken word artist and overall wonderful creative, whose work is inspiring and empowering.
-------------------
Callum Wensley is a Bristol-based poet, event host, and sharer of overwhelming sadness through comedy.
