After an astonishing 35 year career, America's quintessential alternative folk rocker Willie Nile announces a concert at Bristol's Thunderbolt!
Breaking through in the late 70s from New York's bustling live circuit, Willie Nile was the definitive iconoclast, a significant contributor to the avant-garde material which made that generation so important and exciting.
Willie's music quickly earned him notoriety. Initially signed to Artista Records, he attracted the attention of Pete Townshend, who asked him to front The Who's U.S. tour in 1982. He also gained many avowed admirers, including Bruce Springsteen, Bono, Paul Simon, Ian Hunter, and Adam Duritz, amongst others. Indeed, Lucinda Williams once said, 'if there was any justice in the world, I'd be opening for him. '
Willie has released 8 highly acclaimed studio albums, the most recent of which, American Ride (June 2013), includes some of his most compelling music yet. Catchy and vivid, many say it signifies his journey through a creative renaissance. The record was co-produced by Grammy Award-winning Stewart Lerman and features guest appearances from Eagles' guitarist Steuart Smith and The Alarm's Mike Peters.
Armed with this brilliant new material and a back catalogue that has so long been considered a vanguard of rock music, Willie Nile brings his sensational live show to Bristol. He will be supported by outstanding locals talents The Ravons.
Get ready for something authentic and sublime. This is not to be missed.
