Patrik Fitzgerald + Rita Lynch at The Thunderbolt

A gig held at The Thunderbolt on Thursday 7th February. The event starts at 20:00.

PATRIK FITZGERALD:Began performing in 1978, regarded as the original acoustic punk poet, he recorded 3 seminal vinyl EPs including safety pin stuck in my heart. Patrik shared stages with the Clash, the Jam the Buzzcocks and Sham 69, since that period he has established himself as a unique talent, always with a slightly left field or slightly lopsided view.

Fitzgerald is a challenging and compelling performer. this range of material is represented excellently on his new cd'subliminal alienation'.

RITA LYNCH:Rita has stood on the brink, glanced over into the abyss and dragged herself back. And then she discovered punk rock. Her songs are an explosion of sexual, religious and social imagery driven by an energy. Tonight Rita performs solo.

IDIOT STRENGTH:Originally formed in Bristol in 1984 where they played various squat gigs with the likes of Chaos UK, Lunatic Fringe, Amebix and Disorder amongst others. Moving to London in 85 they continued in a sporadic fashion but never recorded any material. Moving back to Bristol in 2009 Singer Steve Corr recruited new bass player Pete Webb and drummer Nick Doobay and have started playing again under the same name. Musically they are not easy to pin down but could be described as a mix of melodic post punk angst with a hint of rockabilly. Think Theatre Of hate meets the Violent Femmes ?
