The Bristol Jazz Workshop is thrilled to have the legendary Dennis Rollins joining us for this next instalment in our Jazz in the Loft series. Dennis will be talking about Jazz Improvisation through the medium of Calypso and Ska music. Make sure you bring your instrument as we will all be getting involved! The Calypso-Jazz Workshop aims to bring joy through the insatiable marriage of jazz and Caribbean Calypso music.

Aimed at all musicians. This performance workshop explores Caribbean Calypso, Ska music through jazz improvisation.

Brass, woodwind, rhythm section, vocalists, steel pans are all welcome.

Together we’ll explore melody, improvisation and ska and calypso interpretation.
We’ll explore the Calypso hits in the style of Lord Kitchner, Lord Invader, Arrow, Harry Belafonte, Duke Errol And The Lords, Toots and The Maytels and more.
