Ceci n'est pas Noire (This is not Black)
Alesandra Seutin I Vocab Dance Company
Tickets on sale: Friday 3rd Feb

Alesandra wants you to know that what you see is not always what you get. Ceci n'est pas Noire (This is not Black) narrates the journey of an Afropean woman through dance and physical theatre, spoken word and song.

Alesandra plunges us into personal memories of her upbringing through the winding roads of Africa and Europe, investigating the complex experience of identity.

Ceci n'est pas Noire (This is not Black) presents a hybrid of expressionistic urban, African and contemporary dance, parlour games and Beyonce.

This is a solo show that plays with roles and attitudes through the distinct perspectives of four figures – the artist, a club girl, Michelle Obama-like politician and dance hall reggae singer. A shifting mood from amusement to menace is guaranteed to keep you on the edge of your seats.
