Murmuration Choir Sound Bath Concert at The Trinity Centre
See event details

A event held at The Trinity Centre on Sunday 7th December. The event starts at 17:30.

“Hope is the thing with feathers, that perches in the soul,
Sings the tune without the words, and never stops at all”
- Emily Dickinson (Hope)

In these times of uncertainty, change and increased acceleration, we are being personally and collectively called to identify what truly supports, sustains and guides us as a light in the darkness - what late activist Joanna Macy (The Work That Reconnects) calls Active Hope. This is faith not born from wishful thinking or blindness to what is happening in the world, but a ‘waking up to the beauty of life on whose behalf we can act.’

“If the world is to be healed through human efforts, I am convinced it will be by ordinary people, people whose love for this life is even greater than their fear.” - Joanna Macy (Active Hope)

Tonight Murmuration Choir shares a 1 hour choral sound bath concert, inspired by themes of Hope, infused with choral arrangements of works by Cleo Sol, Beautiful Chorus, James Blake, Pete Josef, Portishead, Kae Tempest, Jon Hopkins + Ram Dass. Directed by Isolde Lachlan, with crystal singing bowls from Camilla Mason, yoga nidra from Elena Byers and visual projections from Gavin Brockis

Take a break from the holiday chaos, allow some time for the ‘deep rest’ that mid-winter calls for, and immerse yourself in the healing sound of choral harmony, poetry, guided meditation, vocal soundscapes, ASMR, therapeutic instruments, and re-imagined contemporary choral pieces.

You do not need to do anything but lie down on a yoga mat and be surrounded by a warm cocoon of voices, in the beautiful setting of Trinity Centre's Fyfe Hall. Participants will be gently guided in and out of relaxation, and there will be an opportunity to join us in simple sound making to reawaken you, invigorated with a renewed sense of Hope.
