Vieux Farka Touré + Suntou Susso at The Trinity Centre
Headfirst Editor's Pick

"Sell out warning! Mali blues master, electrifying the Saharan desert like his father before him. Vieux Farka Touré’s blistering guitar-funk-roots-rock fusion and wizened vocals are the sound of a star being born. Outstanding musical wonder to behold FFO: Tinariwen, Tamikrest, Ali Farka Touré, Oumou Sangare, Bombino."

Earth Cruises & Ear Trumpet presents Vieux Farka Toure

Standing Show at Trinity, Trinity Road, Bristol, BS2 0NW - 14+ (Under 18s to be accompanied by a responsible adult)

Having rocked a sold out show at London’s Islington Assembly Hall last year, world-renowned guitarist Vieux Farka Touré returns to the UK to showcase his virtuosic musicianship once more.

After the momentous release of Ali, a collaborative album with indie-darlings-turned-global-powerhouse Khruangbin, Vieux Farka Touré’s star power is spreading far and wide.

Regarded as “the Hendrix of the Sahara”, Touré’s limelight has now widened beyond the World Music stage. Although always inspired and propelled by the far-reaching legacy of his late-father Ali Farka Toure and the Songhai music of northern Mali, Touré’s music has found a distinctive voice of its own. Blending traditional melodies and rhythms with soft touches of hypnotic psychedelia, his music riveting in all its twists and turns.

On this UK tour, Touré will bring his electrifying presence to Bristol’s Trinity Centre, Manchester’s Canvas, and Leeds’ Belgrave Music Hall. Tickets will go fast.

"Outstanding" ***** - The Guardian

Suntou Susso is a multi-instrumentalist: kora player, percussionist, singer and composer from The Gambia. Born a Griot in a 700-year old tradition, the kora - a harp-lute with 22 strings - is unique to the Griots of the Mandinka people. Griots have a unique societal role as oral historians, transmitting and preserving a people's culture through the generations in song, music and poetry.

Suntou's family includes some of the world's most highly respected West African musicians. His musical abilities are outstanding, perhaps unique for his generation. An in-demand and charismatic performer, he attracted attention as soon as he arrived on the UK music scene.
