A
event
held at The Trinity Centre
on Thursday 24th October. The event starts at 11:00.
Over the past 20 years the art-form has begun to embed itself in UK cultural life. There has been a surge in the quantity and quality of companies, an increase in programming opportunities, and a significant increase in interest in circus-based performance from audiences across the country. But, in comparison to other art-forms, the sector infrastructure remains limited and there is a need for more high-level advocacy for it to thrive.
Working with a small advisory team, Crying Out Loud has commissioned Daisy Drury to lead on a qualitative research project and create a snapshot overview of the circus and visual theatre sector in England today.
In addition to the 50 one to one conversations that have taken place as part of the research, three case studies will be presented that illuminate the complex journeys artists, presenters and producers take to create and present work currently.
The last Circus Healthcheck was written by David Micklam in 2005. The sector is in a very different position 14 years on. This South West/ Wales session is 1 of 4 Regional Circus Conversations where we invite the sector to review the research and create shared proposals to advance the planning, advocacy and actions for the future.
All welcome.
