Brian Jackson at The Trinity Centre
£20 + bf

A gig held at The Trinity Centre on Wednesday 13th April. The event starts at 19:00.

While not necessarily a household name, Brian Jackson is revered among musicians and DJs. Instrumental in the development of contemporary jazz, jazz-funk, and neo-soul, the multi-instrumentalist is an inspiration for generations of hip-hop and EDM producers. His soulful sounds have been featured by legends such as Kendrick Lamar (Poe Man's Dreams) and Common (The People).

Over the course of his career, Jackson has worked with greats such as Stevie Wonder, Roy Ayers, and Earth, Wind and Fire; more recently building on this pool of talent with A Tribe called Quest's Al Shaheed Muhammad, vocalist Gregory Porter, and legendary bassist Charnett Moffett.

Jackson looks to both the present and the past for inspiration to honour the ancient tradition of the griot - the African troubadour of truth. In this tradition, Jackson tells the stories of how many of his best-loved pieces came to light.
