FORUM PLAY - Theatre of the Oppressed at The Trinity Centre
See event details

A event held at The Trinity Centre on Wednesday 17th June. The event starts at 17:30.

Worms Theatre Company in collaboration with Laura Singer presents an original forum play devised by participants in a recent 8-week Theatre of the Oppressed workshop series.

Created around a social and political question developed by the group, this interactive performance invites audiences into a shared process of dialogue, reflection and action.

Forum Theatre, a key practice within Theatre of the Oppressed, was developed by Brazilian theatre practitioner Augusto Boal as a way of using theatre as a rehearsal for social change. Rather than remaining passive observers, audience members are invited to become "spect-actors" — stepping into the action, intervening in the story, and trying different strategies for addressing the problems presented on stage.

No previous theatre experience is required to participate, and audience members are welcome to engage as much or as little as they wish. Please note that the performance explores sensitive social and political themes, and content warnings will be provided at the beginning of the event.

Arrival Information: Please arrive for 5:15pm as doors will close at 5:30pm.
