GROVE

Producer/vocalist Grove contorts dancehall, bass and hip-hop into a brand new beast, spurred by sensual liberation and political defiance. Inspired by the DIY nature and ethos of punk, the catharsis of dance music & the power of Jamaican soundsystem culture, Grove feeds you food for thought at the dance and enough energy to turn thought into action.

Grove returns to Thekla in November for a one-of-a-kind headline set off the back of double EP P*W*R PL*Y.

TOYA DELAZY

Creator of AfroRave, bringing together Zulu verses with Rave sounds.
Growing up in Zululand, Toya has a strong sense of the power of her Zulu ancestry: a people who defeated British colonial forces, facing gunfire with spears. It’s this awareness, and her own identity as a queer, gender-non-confirming person, which encourages her to centre positive energy and a spirit of empowerment in her music.

TRY ME

Try Me is a genre nonconforming girl-boy duo comprised of Hector Boogieman and Bendy Wendy based in Bristol.
Their style is best described as alt-pop, combining funky bass-lines with catchy vocal hooks and an electronic underbelly.
Lyrically, they often play with conventions around gender and sexuality. The result leaves you giggling at norms and feeling a little more free.

SOZ LAD

Queer f***ing hardcore. Pushing representation in music and dancefloors. Jungle, gabber, tek, punk and more...

A £1 venue levy is attached to all tickets purchased for events at Thekla.
