CLASSIC ROCK & METAL HAMMER PRESENT: LORDS OF THE RIFF 2

ANTI MORTEM

http://www.anti-mortem.com

Formed in 2008 and fronted by vocalist Larado Romo, ANTI-MORTEM's line-up includes older brother-guitarist Nevada Romo, guitarist Zain Smith, bassist Corey Henderson and drummer Levi Dickerson. With over 300 shows to their name, these Chickasha, Oklahoma natives (aged between 18 & 22) spent their formative nights and weekends woodshedding their sound on the concert stage they built themselves in the Smith family barn (originally intended to store an old car collection).

While Zain's parents were away working on the weekends, ANTI-MORTEM would turn their barn rehearsal space into a makeshift venue and hone their chops by inviting friends and family in Chickasha over for an afternoon of gravel-throated vocals, crunch-laden riffs, thick grooves, and some good ol'-fashioned Southern hospitality.

KYNG

Kyng is a Los Angeles-based metal band consisting of Eddie Veliz (vocals, guitar), Tony Castaneda (bass, backup vocals), and Pepe Clarke (drums). The trio's newest album, Burn The Serum, was released on April 15, 2014 on Razor & Tie Records. Burn The Serum was recorded at Grandmaster Recorders LTD and Sword & Shield in Hollywood, California and Studio 606 in Northridge, California. James Rota and Andrew Alekel co-produced the album. Rota is known for Fireball Ministry while Alekel is known for his work on Foo Fighters and Queens of the Stone Age recordings. The group formed in 2008 and their debut release, Trampled Sun, was released on September 27, 2011 on Realid Records. The band signed to Razor & Tie Records in August 2013.

LIONIZE

http://www.lionizemusic.com

The Maryland-based band formed in 2004, learning to play music by jamming and listening really listening to each other. But now, ten years later, the band has matured into a much more powerful, tight unit. Lionize still hammer out most songs in the studio and rehearsal room from the basic spark of an idea. Jetpack Soundtrack, their fifth album and first for the Weathermaker Music label, is no different.

'There's really only so many ways to work on music. You just have to play it, then work on it,' says bassist Henry Upton. 'We just exhaust all our ideas and put them down.'

The band obsessed over thirteen songs, working off four notebooks crammed with ideas, ultimately narrowing the finished album to eleven tracks. Pre-production became a never ending process of upping the musical ante. Eventually, chasing perfection stopped only when producer Machine finally told them to leave.
