How to Embrace a Swamp Creature
+ written work by :
Ay Aidid, Emily Spivey and Holly Supka.
bonVILLE merges synth-heavy electronic thickness with acoustic fragility. Dark and nostalgic, with ethereal melodies as motifs. Her music sits in the electro-organic, art-pop scene with acts like Saya Gray, Caroline Polachek and Magdalena Bay. This is contemporary pop and poetry for the sentimental, the cynical and the hopeful romantics. Be there to witness the beginning of bonVILLE's journey on stage.
FFO: Magdalena Bay, ML Buch, Lana del Rey, Joanne Robertson.
As seen in Bristol based art-rock groups Foot Foot & Ex Agent; Sound artist Evo Ethel merges electro acoustic experimentation with visual imagery; their set explores the degradation of acoustic instruments through the use of electronics and often acts as an improvised score for their surrealist short films. Expect melodic woodwind soundscapes accompanied by cacophonous walls of tape loops and synthesisers.
FFO: Throbbing Gristle, William Basinski, Delia Derbyshire
How to Embrace a Swamp Creature writes and sings from the heart and shows that vulnerability does NOT mean lack of power. This emotional folk artist cuts like a knife and grabs your attention. This stuff is truly captivating and will leave you needing more.
FFO: Kimya Dawson, The Mountain Goats, Daniel Johnston.
For this special night, three writers; Emily Spivey, Holly Supka, and Ay Aidid, have been invited to share their beautiful, honest, and piercing work with us. These poetry sections add a dimension of contemplation and openness to the lineup that will break your heart (in a good way).
