A
clubnight
held at To The Moon
on Friday 10th January. The event starts at 20:00.
FORTUUNE: - (drum breaks and heartache) -
I first heard Richard aka Fortuune at BYOT28. His was the final set of what was one of the most stylistically diverse and structurally broken BYOT events. His selections offered a reflective bookend; it was like riding the night bus home, ears still ringing after a night of pounding kick drums and aggressive bass lines. The set, rich with distant vocals and ethereal synths punctuated by clattering breaks, offered a stripped back echo of what came before it.
Hear Fortuune following up my warm-up set from 9-10pm.
SPOKE: - (amen connoisseur) -
I first heard Tom Proffitt aka Spoke at BYOT4. He's one of the most dedicated drum and bass enthusiasts I know. I recently got a look at his collection of amen break samples. He's got more versions of that specific drum break than all of my samples combined. We're lucky enough at Decent Exposure 3 to hear Tom select from deep within his collection, a set of break beat music inhabiting the 160bpm bracket. A slower, more thoughtful version of his wall rattling appearances at some of the city's biggest clubs.
APOSTAS: - (selection specialist) -
I first heard Owen aka Apostas back at BYOT10. There is something very brilliant about the way Owen selects. He's got a seemingly intrinsic knowledge of a huge swathe of the underground scene, and uses every tool at his disposal to create something that is immensely special, and unique every time. Owen's closing off what is set to be an amazing evening, and you'd be a fool to leave without seeing what he has for us. I can't wait.
Hear Owen for the final set: 11pm-12am.
MAX'S SENTIENT JUKEBOX: - (you can dance, but you don't have to) -
I'll be on warm up duty from 8-9pm, with a set designed to ease you into your evening. Check out the menu at GRANO Kitchen and I'll play you some stuff you can really sink your teeth into.
