PANORAMA: A conversation with Ricardo Cases at Arnolfini

A event held at Arnolfini on Tuesday 10th March. The event starts at 19:00.

“When we get lost in the forest, trees moss indicate where the North is. When we get lost in Benidorm (Spain), thousands of balconies tell us where the South is, facing a glaring and flat Mediterranean sea that resembles a tin foil”

For the first time in the United Kingdom, the internationally acclaimed Spanish photographer, Ricardo Cases, will be speaking about his latest publication entitled PANORAMA. Ricardo Cases’s work is distinguished by a use of intense colors, creating a surreal visual world from rural and urban realities.

Launching in the UK with this event, the photobook PANORAMA is a series of 'triptychs'; images presented in groups of three instead of individually. Exploring the city of Benidorm, Spain, each page shows us one building, one inhabitant, and their view of the city. In this way, the book is an attempt to understand this city and its vertical nature as well as the desire of living in the heights - a glimpse from afar onto a skyscraper balcony, and an excuse to ring the buzzer.

Join us at this event as Ricardo Cases discusses PANORAMA, and his wider photographic practice.

This publication is edited and designed by Ángel Álvarez (Tipode Office) with texts by Esther García Llovet.
