See event details

A gig held at Bristol Folk House on Monday 18th May. The event starts at 20:00.

Transporting us to a rare time in Britain’s history, three of the UK’s most innovative, award-winning folk artists reinvent a collection of broadsides – daily song sheets sold for pence. Lisa Knapp, Marry Waterson and Nathaniel Mann lead a five-piece band who have scoured the collection at the Bodleian Libraries and beyond to bring the tradition to a new generation. Successful in their own individual careers, this collaboration is a sparkling rarity that gets back brings the heart of old fashioned folk into the modern-day. This is not nostalgia but rather, a look at the music that made us.
