BalFolk with Salmanazar at Bristol Folk House
See event details

A gig held at Bristol Folk House on Saturday 5th January. The event starts at 19:30.

Bringing warmth, sunshine and, most importantly, dancing to the depths of winter, BalFolk Bristol are delighted to welcome back Cédric Martin (Duo Expire, Big Jeans), this time with his trio Salmanazar.

These three musicians explore the roots of their respective instruments (electroacoustic hurdy-gurdy, diatonic accordion, bagpipes) giving them a new dimension. Based around the dance rhythms of Western Europe, in particular Central France, their repertoire weaves between traditional melodies and innovative compositions. Their music is gutsy, vibrant and highly danceable: you won't be able to sit still!

This is a dance event with live music. French folk dance is very easy to pick up and join in, no experience necessary and you don't need to bring a dance partner with you. There'll be a basics dance workshop before the gig to get you started with the steps so you can dance all night. Listeners also welcome.
