The Blue Badgers and Bowker & Morse at Bristol St Andrews Bowls Club
£10 Inc Headfirst admin charge

A gig on Wednesday 29th April. The event starts at 20:00.

The Blue Badgers signature sound is a blend of original folk music and rich vocal harmonies featuring fiddle, accordion, harmonica, guitar, bass, cajon and whistles. The band draws on Celtic, Americana and Eastern European influences to create a sound that is both rootsy and adventurous. Their set includes songs and instrumentals from their album Strike the Spark, traditional Celtic tunes and new material from their forthcoming release, weaving together local stories from recent history with reflections on wider world issues. Joyful and heartfelt, a Blue Badgers performance creates a powerful sense of connection — between musicians and audience, place and story.

Josh Bowker and Lizi Morse first met as friendly rivals in
different sea-shanty bands (The Longest Johns and Aggie
Boys Choir). Reconnecting years later over a shared love of
pub folk sessions, a beautiful singing partnership evolved that would slip Lizi’s powerful soprano (think Karine Polwart meets June Tabor) and Josh’s soulful tenor (think Roland Orzabal meets Ben Howard) cozily over their newly-penned folk songs like a weatherproof fisherman’s jumper.
Inspired by connection to the land, social issues, simple
pleasures and - above all - friendship and a good old sing-song,their songs are intentionally woven to fit into the larger canon of traditional folk. Here you’ll find comfortingly familiar tropes and melodies mixed with refreshingly original songwriting and spine-tingling harmonies.

Entry requirements: no age restrictions
