21st March 2026 marks 5 years since the Kill The Bill uprising in Bristol.
When the cops attacked people demonstrating against the Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts bill, they sparked a riot. Demonstrators fought back together, police vehicles were burnt and Bridewell police station was attacked.
The following repression was heavy, with further sickening police violence, house raids, many arrests, court cases and lengthy prison sentences. The establishment and mainstream media were cheerleaders for the clampdown and further attacks on us all, while the police enjoyed their usual impunity for all their brutality.
We will always remember the bravery and solidarity of all the rebels who dared to take a stand together that night and during the demonstrations that followed over the following weeks. We are so proud of everyone who stood with the defendants and prisoners through it all. We are on the right side of history.
Social movements continue to face the escalating attacks and repression of the state, from Palestine solidarity activists to antifacists. We continue to face the intimidation tactics and violence of the cops who always stand in the way of our efforts to fight for a more just and free world.
Let's remember and honour our history of struggle and celebrate and continue to strengthen our resistance together.
