The Dhol Foundation come to Bristol Beacon as part of Asian Arts Agency’s New Sounds Festival, celebrating the launch of their new album.

Founded by charismatic drummer Johnny Kalsi in 1989, the group have spent decades bringing the powerful sound of the Punjabi dhol to new audiences. Combining traditional drumming with rock, pop, drum and bass and electronic music, their music is rooted in tradition while embracing experimentation.

From Transglobal Underground to Afro Celt Sound SystemKalsi has collaborated across cultures and genres, while The Dhol Foundation’s thunderous rhythms and infectious energy have made them a thrilling force live.
