Potted Bio
Matt Anniss is a writer, researcher, DJ and dance music historian. A former editor of IDJ magazine with bylines in Mixmag, DJ, Resident Advisor, Juno Daily, RBMA Daily and the Guardian, amongst others, Matt is best-known for his radical reappraisal of the roots and rise of UK bass culture, Join The Future: Bleep Techno and the Birth of British bass Music (Velocity Press). The book inspired a partner compilation on the late JD Twitch’s Cease & Desist label, Join The Future: UK Bleep & Bass ’88-92, and Matt’s own electronic music culture website, www.jointhefuture.net. Matt is also the co-author of Haynes Publishing’s ’The Vinyl Manual’ – a title focused on records, DJing and record collecting culture – and has so far written three books for children and teenagers on how to DJ.
Once a familiar face within the Bristol scene as the DJ/promoter behind the popular best before: and Bedmo Disco parties (as well as an ambient/chill-out collective known as the TR13E), Matt is a diverse, adaptable and experienced DJ who has played across the UK and far beyond (Berlin, Sydney, Amsterdam), including appearances behind the decks at festivals including Soundwave Croatia, We Out Here and Watching Trees.
In addition, he has hosted talks and panels for Resident Advisor, Inner City Electronic festival, No Bounds festival, We Out Here, Watching Trees and FORWARDS. He lives in Bristol with 10,000 records and too many books to mention. He is currently two thirds of the way through a PhD research project focused on rural rave culture in East Anglia.

West of England Combine Authority Space Agency
West of England Combined Authority Space Agency are our hosts and peripatetic DJ troupe behind the near-mythical underground parties at The Basement in Stokes Croft. In such fraught times their manifesto is for humanity to imagine a completely new reality of universal love and acceptance. They will be charting your multidimensional course through the electronic dub continuum via its junction with the M32, twiddling your mind and feet along the way.

As well as providing a night of unrivalled musical distinction, we at 'Groove Connection', with the support of the NHS charity Headlight, will be continuing our efforts to raise funds for mental health patients that are under secondary services.
Groove Connection is a collective of mental health practitioners, DJs and ravers determined to create a regular space where those under Bristol's mental health community teams can mix both their favourite beats and with likeminded others.
To do this we need to hire a local DJ studio space or similar, complete with sound system and state of the art equipment. We are aiming to raise £2500 to ensure a suitable studio is accessible and equipment is sourced, along with the occasional guest DJ for inspiration and expert tuition.
