A
clubnight
held at Cosies
on Thursday 23rd October. The event starts at 22:00.
After a smashing summer, Essential Sessions returns to cosies for a one away night of roots and culture, featuring old and new friends of Essential Sounds.
On the night..
MARIA
Maria grew up immersed within Bristol's rich soundsystem culture. Her passion and experience with bass music continues to grow with a vinyl collecion to match. Having played the likes of Subdub, Outlook Festival, the Mine, Shambala Festival and shared stages with Iration Steppas and David Rodigan, Maria plays all-vinyl sets of meditative roots and steppers through to uplifting 140s.
MARK DUB
Mark a veteran of Bristol sound system scene starting out in early 90's with Armagideon Rock Sound, then forming Enjoyment Service Sound playing at squat and free parties at same time as holding residences at the Star and Garter and other underground venues in the St Paul's Area. Dub Revolution! Started about 2002 featuring live MC's and musicians from the activist scene jamming along to dub vinyl, doing a radio show and playing all over South West and Europe. Nowadays Mark's more often found hanging round street corners with his mobile shopping trolley sound or selling music at the M32 flea market. No stranger to Cosies he was one of the original reggae Sunday residents and had a Friday residency back when Flora was running the place, this will be his first time back in the dub cellar for 13 years.
AWASSA SOUND
Graham of Awassa Soundsystem is the latest addition to the Essential family. After collaborating on a number of events this year, we look forward to welcoming him to play our next installment. New to the Bristol scene but a seasoned DJ and sound engineer, you can expect his selection to be as unusual and eclectic as his self-designed experimental soundsystem.
