A
gig
held at El Rincon
on Thursday 11th September. The event starts at 19:30.
What a treat! This is an absolutely fantastic way to kick off the autumn season at the Tapas Tardis, and you are advised to book tickets as early as possible.
benjin is a top-notch London-based multi-instrumentalist, who specialises in the beguiling ‘nyckelharpa’ – the Swedish ‘keyed fiddle’ with four melody strings and twelve sympathetic strings. It’s a gorgeous, evocative sound, and Benjin uses it to weave magical sonic journeys (encompassing bits of Bach, folk tunes, original songs and evocative improvisations), some of which have been featured on BBC Radio 6 & Radio 3, and at the TATE and Serpentine Galleries. www.benjinmusic.bandcamp.com/
And as if that wasn’t enough…tonight’s opening set will be performed by one of Bristol’s finest multi-instrumentalists. James Gow is cellist with JOW, Eleven Magpies, and the Terra Collective, but this will be the world premiere of his new solo project featuring the delightful tenor guitar. Expect beauty, wit and invention. www.jamesgowmusic.com/
