Homeland at Electric Bristol
See event details

A gig held at Electric Bristol on Tuesday 12th November. The event starts at 20:30.

Seckou Keita returns to his roots with his latest project Homeland, where he explores identity, sense of belonging, and questions the very idea of home, influenced by his own relationship with both his adoptive UK homeland and his native country of Senegal.

Bringing together seven of West Africa’s greatest living performers, Homeland is filled with new reworkings of ancient traditions and culture. The group includes one of Senegal’s best known vocalists, Korka Dieng, and Moustapha Gaye, lead guitarist for Youssou n’Dour.

Seckou is on a mission to explore what it means to be a modern global citizen while living with seven centuries of musical heritage between his fingers, and this new show will range from new compositions to poetry, sacred prayers, and raucous dance.

Entry requirements: 14+, any under 18s accompanied by 21+ adult 1:1 ratio
