HAAL
Combining elements of post-rock, metal, trip-hop and industrial noise, Bristol’s HAAL have quickly become cult favourites in the UK live scene.
Their psychotropic blend of sampling, DIY home-crafted pedals, monolithic instrumentation and immersive live visuals has seen the band play and tour alongside the likes of Deliluh, Butch Kassidy, Famous, DITZ, Treeboy & Arc and Water From Your Eyes, as well as appearing at festivals such as ArcTanGent, Dot To Dot, Wanderlust & many more.
Pecq
pecq are producer and multi-instrumentalist duo Hannah (Jakes) Jacobs (synth player for Barry Can’t Swim/Arlo Parks) and Niko O'Brien (audio engineer for the likes of Liz Fraser and Porij).
The innovative pair create 'pop at its most exploratory' [Clash], ‘traversing the blissful margins between indie-electronica, psychedelic ambience and skittering electro-pop’ [DJ Mag]. Since their 2021 debut, they’ve had strong, consistent support from DSPs, radio and tastemakers and their latest record ‘red moon, rare night’ received rave reviews from the likes of BBC Radio 1 (Jack Saunders, Sian Eleri, Tash Kumar, Jess Iszatt), BBC 6 Music (Tom Ravenscroft, Deb Grant, Tom Robinson), Amazing Radio Top 40, DJ Mag, Spotify Editorial (Fresh Finds, Dreampop), Selector Radio (One to Watch 2024), Apple Music, DIY and Wonderland.
Hypothetics
Hypothetics are an innovative post-grunge four-piece based in Bristol. Constantly refining, they are known for their hardened sound, filtered through hazy folk melodies and tortured electronics. Motivated by an intense pride they have for their music, they aren’t afraid to rewire themselves creatively to show the audience something new.
Their reputation for progressive releases and hard hitting performances has landed Hypothetics shows across the UK with appearances at Forwards, 2000trees and Boardmasters.
Wakey Wakey Rise and Shine
Slowly assembled together after years of “life's wonderful lived experiences” - at college, at Green Man festival, on Gumtree adverts, at gigs - Wakey Wakey Rise & Shine eventually emerged in Bristol in 2020. Influenced by the likes of King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, Snapped Ankles, and the New Wave trailblazers DEVO and B-52s, the band came to define their Psychedelic/post-punk sound; frilly psychedelic melodies fused with the fuzzed-up fury of high-octane post-punk, all powered by an embrace of all things silly and irreverent
Wyr
Formed in 2023, Wyr credits their unique sound to influences such as My Bloody Valentine, Sonic Youth, and The Cure.
Listeners can find themselves immersed in their trance inducing atmosphere oozing with fuzzed out feedback and plenty of reverb. A mixture of post punk inspired spoken word and ethereal vocals float above the soundscape of fragrant guitar tones and huge basslines to reveal a vulnerability through lyrics with themes of loss, anger, queer identity, love, catholic guilt and mental health.
Paper Crowns
Paper Crowns are a Bath and Bristol based Post Punk/Jazz band. The group has evolved over the years with differing members and sounds to eventually land in the sandy tropics of Bath with six members. The band's members bring a variety of influences that come through subtly with every track. However, they all share a love for the convoluted world that is Jazz music and take after the recent developments and left turns of the genre that has brought us the likes of Black Midi, Squid, Black Country New Road and many others.
Nobody's Dad
Bristol’s Nobody’s Dad emerged in the early 2020s with a raw and gritty sound rooted in alt-rock. Led by vocalist and rhythm guitarist Phoebe Stokes, the band released secret demos of their fan favourites ‘Angel’ and ‘Margo’ in 2022. The band’s distinctly shoegaze nature creates a unique blend of warm and melancholic sounds which are effortlessly relatable. Taking their cues from the likes of 90s punk and the rising British alternative scene, the group share real life experiences - weaving relationships, mental health, and coming of age in post 2020 Britain.
Exchange is a 14+ venue. Under 18s must be accompanied by an adult.
