Cockroach Presents: An afternoon of discussion on prison and solidarity.

3pm Talk
Crisis and Containment - From the 1971 general strike through to the near total demolition of Strangeways in 1990 and the uprisings of winter 2016, the development of the prison system has been conditioned as much by the militancy of those inside its walls as the bureaucrats in the departments administrating it. Crisis and Containment will give an overview of the history of the post-war prison estate in England and Wales and outline some of the historical context for the government's ongoing plans for prison expansion.

4pm Letter writing session
Why letter writing is an important means of solidarity. Come and write letters to people in prison.

5pm Cinema in the garden
Showing: Gentleman Bank Robber- The story of butch lesbian freedom fighter Rita Bo Brown. Popcorn and hot chocolate will be served.

6.30pm
Delicious Vegan Feast - with pudding and bar - £4/5
