We are journeying the last days and weeks of winter, making our way towards the Spring Equinox, and the shift in season it will bring.
The equinoxes are times of balance, a poise between light and dark in the journey of the year. At these times, we are invited to seek equilibrium, to release the excess of the season that is passing, in preparation for the new season. Right now that is shedding the damp and heaviness of winter, and preparing for the rising energy of spring. Like the sap in the trees, life force wishes to move upwards through our bodies, and giving ourselves time to work with that energy can make all the difference to how we experience the change in season.
The food we eat forms the matter of our physical bodies, the ground from which we live our lives. Knowing how to nourish ourselves well can make a huge difference in how we experience health - from energy levels, to sleeping soundly, living without pain and discomfort but able to move and enjoy our bodies in freedom, having space to enjoy the house that our spirit resides in - good food forms the building blocks of life.
In this event we will share spring foods to delight your senses; explore Ayurvedic and Chinese 5 elements philosophies; how we find those philosophies living in the foods of this land; prepare food together; take time to bring a touch of ceremony - and of course, eat a feast!
We will send out a questionnaire to all participants before the day so that you can start to have an idea of your personal dosha, or constitution, from an Ayurvedic perspective. This will help you relate to the different ways in which we can nourish and bring balance to our bodies in each season.
