The internationally renowned and ever inventive saxophonist IAIN BALLAMY joins the improvising 'dub-jazz' duo THE DEFECTIVE COMET for a special pre-Christmas one off performance.
The Defective Comet are Multi-instrumentalist Ross Hughes and Fringe Jazz favourite and professor of all things percussive Tony Orrell. Having worked together as two thirds of The Gas Giants with Will Gregory (best known for Goldfrap) and with the groundbreaking conductor/arranger Charles Hazlewood the pair of intergalactic musical explorers discovered a mutual interest in creating a fusion of Dub and Jazz using keyboards, synthesizers, loops, percussion, electronics, woodwind, slide guitars and all sorts of things. Gigs followed at The Bell in Bath, The Canteen and Kelston Records Old Barn leading one reviewer to say "The gig really was astounding, just superb!...most memorable music night of the year!"

IAIN BALLAMY'S music transcends genres and he has forged strong and ongoing relationships with musicians around the globe, Iain has worked with many of the cutting-edge figures of today's contemporary Jazz scene. Highlights of a career spanning nearly 30 years include working with Loose Tubes, Bill Bruford's Earthworks, Hermeto Pascoal, Django Bates, Kenny Werner, Gil Evans, George Coleman, John Taylor, June Tabor, Huw Warren, Richard Rodney Bennett's 'Concerto for Stan Getz', Ian Shaw, Claire Martin, Everything but the Girl, Mike Gibbs, Carla Bley and many more.
