Claire Northerly at the Hare on the Hill at The Hare on the Hill

A gig held at The Hare on the Hill on Sunday 27th October. The event starts at 18:00.

Join us Sunday 27th October for French violinist Claire Northey, who brings an air of the North African coast to the UK. Between trip hop and world music, with looped beats & vocals, Claire’s music is inspired by her time writing for theatre productions in France, Egypt and Morocco. She performs solo or with guest horn player Nick Oakley who features on her debut album Mavromati.

6pm start, free entry.

In 2015, Claire was a writer/ collaborator with
DJ Yoda & The Breakfast of Champions. Their LP won album of the day on BBC Radio 6 and the project toured the UK at venues & festivals such as Kentish Town Forum, Camden Jazz Cafe, Glastonbury, Bestival and Boomtown.

She released her debut album Mavromati in April 2017 with new Bristol label CHK ONE, available on Bandcamp and all online platforms.

'Humble and innovative, Northey utilised the many textures of her violin to re-mould this traditionally classic instrument. The result was delicate yet powerful.'
— Cone Magazine

'As far away from Western pop tradition as you can get, her jazz/ folk odysseys weave playfully between trip-hop, Eastern European and Arabic influences... For fans of Bjork, Ennio Morricone and Zero 7.'
