Party like it’s 1719 at Baroque & Roll -

unique one day music festival at Kings Weston House

19th August 2018

Stepping Out Theatre are working in collaboration with Mind Your Music to create a truly magical one day music festival at Kings Weston House on 19th August. ‘Baroque and Roll’ promises to be an entertaining and lively event, offering everything from classical music to Americana, Jazz and even spoken word performances.

Local Bristol group The Ardeton Quartet, will be performing from 2pm. They have gained quite a reputation over the last few years, wowing audiences across the UK with their striking performances in every style and setting imaginable. They have a very special show planned for this event which will fit perfectly with the 18th Century Kings Weston House. This will include music from around the time the grand mansion was finished – 1719. A period ripe with hits such as Brandenburg’s Concerto 4, Vivaldi’s Four Seasons and Handel’s Water Music. The latter fitting perfectly with the 100 foot water feature and fountain in the grounds of the house. They will also being offering a modern take on some Baroque classics.

From 6pm, the Mind Your Music Collective and Friends will be taking to the stage, performing a variety of music including Americana, Jazz and spoken word pieces. Audiences are encouraged to bring a picnic and delight in the beautiful grounds of Kings Weston House . It also offers the opportunity to explore the impressive interior and take in the splendour of this house, with its magnificent ceilings, marble fireplaces and stunning suspended central staircase. Performances will be outside but moved inside if the weather is inclement.

Tickets to Baroque and Roll cost just £10 (£8 concessions). The event is funded by the Arts Council and all profits from this event go to support the vital work of Mind Your Music – the Bristol-based mental health charity which works to promote better mental health through the creation and performance of music. The charity was established by Elliot Hall, who himself has an incredible story of overcoming mental health issues to find success as a musician.
