A gig held at L'Étoile Studio on Friday 26th June. The event starts at 19:30.
Experimental ambient drone duo David Birchall (banjo and e-bows) and Luigi Marino (percussion and DIY circuits) celebrate their recent album release on Fr33zehead in the tiny, cosy space at L’Etoile Studio.
Expect meditative drones and harmonic bliss.
They'll share the concert with the fiery improv trio of Rebecca Sneddon (sax), Robin Foster (aplified objects, rummaging) and Matthew Grigg (guitar and objects). Mainstays of Bristol’s radical experimental scene, with a tape on Liquid Library, they bring the tempest before the calm.
Tickets £10 (but if you're short on cash, pay what you can — or if you're just curious and there is room, come on in!)
"Bristol Sessions offers three tension-charged, highly cinematic drone-like textures. Marino’s patient and methodical bowed cymbals work, extended through his DIY circuits, resonate and blend with Birchall’s subtle Ebows touches on the banjo strings. These textures suggest a nuanced but dissonant, often static and ornamented by electric static noises, eerie and disorienting ambience that challenges and enriches the thresholds of resonance, as the first piece is titled."
