Our workshops are accessible to all! Pay what you can, or free for those on low incomes.

Shapers of Society presents a fashion and art workshop where throwaway items, clothing and art come together to form the ‘Wearable Waste’ workshop. On the day, Rachael will be joined by street artist Broke who was a member of the team at the Waste Exchange (first showcased at Shangri-La Glastonbury 2019).

Together we will find meaning in the clothing and items on their way to landfill, utilising, making and printing to creatively connect and build a relationship with what exists. You will learn different ways to turn your old clothing and throw-aways into something beautiful – from fashion wear/accessories to printing waste messages of appreciation on your rubbish, transforming them into something else, extending their life and keeping them out of landfill.

Re-turn those bits of junk lying around, clear out your draws and recreate clutter into wearable waste pieces, whilst making memorable moments and takeaway rubbish souvenirs. Take part in a rubbish pile photo shoot to end the workshop and celebrate your creatively tailored piece.
What to bring
Please bring a variety of your own clean waste materials (such as broken toys, pens, bottle tops, old magazines or newspapers) and/or items of clothing you no longer need/have a use for and would otherwise be going to landfill. We will also be providing a variety of materials, but it’s key that you bring some of your own to connect with and transform!
