Trumpeter, composer, producer, DJ, singer, radio host and the incredibly hard-working Emma-Jean Thackray is coming to town!
The Yorkshire born, London based artist is going on a UK tour to play music from 'Yellow', her 14 track opus, the long-awaited debut album released on her Movement imprint and distributed and pressed with the backing of WARP. The album, to be released at the beginning of July marks a fresh step forward in Emma's sound. We haven't had the chance to hear it in full yet and are excited as you to do so, but we have been loving the new bits we have heard, and have been fans here at Worm HQ for a long time.
This will be the third attempt at hosting Emma (with two shows already scuppered by the pandemic), so we know a lot of you are eagerly awaiting your chance to see Emma on stage in Bristol. We're pretty sure she has never bought her whole band to town yet!
Over the past few years, Emma's profile has been going from strength to strength. 2020 saw her release the "Rain Dance" EP on her own imprint "Movementt", a direct-to-disc recording entitled "UM YANG" for Nightdreamer and recently an inspired rework of "Speak No Evil" by Wayne Shorter as part of the fantastic Blue Note Re:Imagined compilation, the 2021 and the epic debut album 'YELLOW' with lead single 'Say Something' being absolutely everywhere! Time after time, Emma proves her versatility as a player, composer and producer, continuing to take her sound to new heights.
Emma is undoubtedly one of the stand out artists of the UK 'jazz' music renaissance of recent years, 'Lay Lines' is bonafide classic, 'Movementt' from 2020 was wicked and no doubt 'Yellow' is gonna do the damage! She's a singular and focused artist who brings her own style, humble charm and good energy to her music and we completely love her!
Those of you who saw Emma and her band perform at Glastonbury 2019 know what's up!
WE ARE ON FINAL RELEASE TICKETS FOR THIS SHOW - PLEASE MOVE QUICK IF YOU WANT TO SEE EMMA PLAY LIVE IN BRISTOL FINALLY!
