Dungeons of Wessex is an all-day dungeon synth event taking place in Bristol on Saturday 4th July, featuring the country’s best dungeon synth artists as well as adventurers from distant lands.
Bristol’s dungeon-folk outfit FLICKERS FROM THE FEN headline the debut edition with whimsical strings and wizardry. Having carried the torch of dungeon synth in Bristol for years, there could only ever be one headliner for the city’s first festival.
They will be joined by Germany’s RADAGAST, making his first UK appearance. Josua Karlson has earned a name as a conjurer of Berlin School-soaked dungeon synth and promises a cosmic display of synth magic.
Another of Britain’s finest, ORCUS is a distinguished name within the UK dungeon synth scene. Featuring complex compositions and vast, nostalgic soundscapes, ORCUS encapsulates all that dungeon synth should be, whilst nodding towards soundtrack masters of years gone by.
Three US artists will journey across the ocean to play their first ever UK shows. APOXUPON, founder of Texas Dungeon Siege & Florida Dungeon Fest, will perform his luscious ‘How the Garden Grows’.
PSYCHIC HOOD joins the fray, transporting us to the grimdark future of the 41st Millennium, delivering battle hymns and orchestral tales of the warp. The Emperor protects.
FINAL HEAVEN completes our American contingent, conjuring vampiric ambient horrorscapes from the darkest dungeons.
From Germany, THE DIVINE ACCOLADE makes their UK debut, offering melancholic melodies and tales of romance and reflection, tinged with haunting black metal passages.
Further offerings from Britannia: KNIGHT OF THE SUN leads druidic rituals in worship of Sol through spellbinding storytelling.
BLADES OF FÖLMAR’s dark eeriness echoes through the halls, as Ser Fölmar crafts an ominous soundtrack worthy of the deepest dungeon crawl.
STRANGE ORC treats us to a whimsical, psychedelic adventure, sure to please fans of long-forgotten game soundtracks.
Finally, the festival will open with a short narrative tale from UNDUMË, performing the maiden summoning of ‘Ring the Bells for a Dead Land’.
