High Colour Presents Fabio Ferri and Solomon OB at Cafe Kino
Headfirst Editor's Pick

"We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again: Fabio Ferri is Bristol’s Frank Zappa! His mind-boggling prog alchemy is forged with a mathematician’s precision and a mad scientist’s unhinged brilliance. Jazz-fusion meeting avant-garde classical, alongside searing spoken word flow from Solomon OB. Essential FFO: Allan Holdsworth, Nik Bärtsch, Jaga Jazzist, late Soft Machine."

High Colour presents Fabio Ferri's Release of the single 'Cave Tree' alongside Solomon OB.

Fabio Ferri is a multi-instrumentalist and composer based in Bristol, deeply embedded in the city’s thriving jazz scene. A key figure in multiple cutting-edge projects, he is recognised both for his technical virtuosity and his unconventional, boundary-pushing approach to the electric guitar. His compositions merge contemporary jazz with classical and electronic elements, creating a sound that is as intricate as it is innovative. Leading his own full band, he has been hailed as ‘Bristol’s answer to Frank Zappa’ for his genre-blending vision and fearless experimentation.

Bristol-based composer Fabio Ferri releases his third single, “Cave Tree,” on July 18th, paired with a music video filmed in Ashton Court. Blending classical, jazz, and electronic influences, the track draws inspiration from a hollow tree steeped in personal and symbolic meaning. Its operatic vocals, Radiohead-esque guitars, and lush arrangements weave between jazz, avant-garde, and acoustic textures—creating a dynamic, cinematic journey. "Cave Tree" follows Ferri’s earlier singles, building toward his upcoming album, Transfiguration, exploring displacement and musical reinvention.
