Slimline Shufflers w/Horn section + Victoria Klewin at Mr Wolfs
See event details

A gig held at Mr Wolfs on Friday 13th June. The event starts at 21:30.

SLIMLINE SHUFFLERS
Following their trip to New Orleans in April 2024, they have begun to put out a series of original songs, the first being ‘Your Tricks Are Getting Old’, released on 28 March (available on all platforms!). This show will see them with a three piece horn section to really highlight and enhance that Louisiana sound!

The Slimline Shufflers are a dynamic New Orleans-style rhythm’n‘blues band hailing from Bristol, UK. With virtuosic piano playing, searing harmonica, and inspiration drawn from iconic Crescent City musicians such as Professor Longhair, James Booker, Allen Toussaint and Dr. John, their music makes it easy to imagine yourself enjoying a bowl of jambalaya on a midnight Mississippi riverboat ride.

Comprised of Henry Slim on harmonica & vocals, Eric Arthur on piano, Adam Newton on bass, and Max Harrison on drums & vocals, December 2023 saw them release their debut LP “Suspicious Blues”, which was warmly received in 2024.

“The Slimline Shufflers tend to focus on different sides of the blues…think maybe of Mose Allison, Willie Mabon, or even early Georgie Fame, with a really kicking rhythm section & a blues harp player.” – Blues in Britain

VICTORIA KLEWIN
Victoria Klewin is a young British jazz singer and songwriter with an authentic voice full of sass and sophistication. Known for her extensive range, finely-crafted tone and keen rhythmic styling, she has earned comparisons with the likes of Peggy Lee, Ella Fitzgerald and Sarah Vaughan.

When she's not working as a songwriter/backing vocalist with Hannah Williams & The Affirmations (sampled on Jay-Z's grammy nominated 4:44), she is touring as a solo artist on the UK jazz scene and has also completed several headline tours in the Czech Republic and Germany. Her shows combine her own songs (showcased on 2016 release ' Dance me to Heaven') and a fine selection of lesser-known American Songbook repertoire.
