A
gig
held at Mr Wolfs
on Friday 17th October. The event starts at 21:00.
KASPAR & LUCY
A collaboration between Kaspar Berry Rapkin & Lucy Piper sees two established musicians from the UK's Blues scene come together to play the upbeat Hill Country & Delta Blues from the land where they first met, Clarksdale, Mississippi.
Dedicated to capturing the raw hypnotic energy you'd find in a traditional 'Juke Joint', both musicians are devoted to keeping this unique music alive, with an added fresh edge!
Hailing from St Albans and Exeter, Kaspar plays regularly on the London Blues circuit as well as at many of the leading UK's Blues Festivals, both solo and with his band 'The Swamp Dogs', whilst Lucy is well known on the scene for her role as a Blues session Drummer, and has played with the likes of Ben Waters, Mississippi Macdonald, and James Oliver, as well as many American Blues artists out in the Delta, such as Watermelon Slim & Robert Kimbrough Sr.
SLIMLINE SHUFFLERS
songs, the first being ‘Your Tricks Are Getting Old’, released on 28 March (available on all platforms!). This show will see them with a three piece horn section to really highlight and enhance that Louisiana sound!
The Slimline Shufflers are a dynamic New Orleans-style rhythm’n‘blues band hailing from Bristol, UK. With virtuosic piano playing, searing harmonica, and inspiration drawn from iconic Crescent City musicians such as Professor Longhair, James Booker, Allen Toussaint and Dr. John, their music makes it easy to imagine yourself enjoying a bowl of jambalaya on a midnight Mississippi riverboat ride.
Comprised of Henry Slim on harmonica & vocals, Eric Arthur on piano, Adam Newton on bass, and Max Harrison on drums & vocals, December 2023 saw them release their debut LP “Suspicious Blues”, which was warmly received in 2024.
“The Slimline Shufflers tend to focus on different sides of the blues…think maybe of Mose Allison, Willie Mabon, or even early Georgie Fame, with a really kicking rhythm section & a blues harp player.” – Blues in Britain
