Karyo are a five-piece eclectic rabble of rowdy alternative hip-hop slingers who tried hard at school and always mind their Ps and Qs (probably counterpointed with a few tasteful Fs and Cs). Their unique style of music brings together various instruments alongside a vocal to create something both audible and, at times, perplexing. They predominantly play beat-driven, highly danceable arrangements of 3-5 minutes in length, making them a great choice for people who like to hear songs.
Karyo's music is characterised by syncopated guitars, intricate rhythms, effortless vocal delivery and raucous brass hooks. Sample, FX and live looping create and engaging performance spectacle. Henry's thought-provoking lyrics explore current and controversial social topics with wit, charm and occasional fury. The mood is upbeat and rhythmic with deep, Dub-soaked bass and thundering drums - perfect for drinking and dancing.
