DIRTY ALEX:
Blend 4 parts Jazz musicians, 3 measures overproof Hiphop emcees and 1 shot of soul. That’s Dirty Alex. A Cardiff based hip-hop/Jazz collective hugely inspired by Guru’s 1993 album ‘Jazzmatazz’.
Forming early 2016, Dirty Alex released their debut EP ‘Roadblock’ later that year (Available on BandCamp, Spotify and iTunes). Adam Walton played a few of the tracks on his BBC Wales show; comparing the track ‘Unjust’ to the likes of Gill Scott Heron.
Dirty Alex have been building a steady following live and online by playing supporting slots in Cardiff and Bristol for artists such as Lazy Habits, Children of Zeus, Chali 2na & Krafty Kutz and The Mouse Outfit. They have also played several festivals including Truefest, Hub Fest and most recently, Boomtown Fair.
They’re the type of band that’ll improv a track live on stage about a random conversation they had a few hours earlier. Their latest video release ‘Jaffa Cakes Go Hard!’ was seeded by one of those moments. Influences include A Tribe Called Quest, The Roots, Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock and other Jazz, Funk and Fusion artists.
They have since been working on their second EP entitled ‘D A’, due for release in spring 2019.

ARKOCEAN
Three piece instrumental trio hailing from Cardiff, UK. The band formed in late 2018 after meeting at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and quickly produced their debut EP 'Surfacing' to be released January 2019. The root of their overall sound lies in improvisation, jazz and funk, whilst reaching out into more dance oriented genres such as house and drum and bass. They have been likened to other experimental British trios such as Strobes and Three Trapped Tigers.

Their debut EP 'Surfacing' is reminiscent both to the Organ Trios led by John Scofield from the 70s and 80s, as well as more contemporary acts such as Troyka.
