8-piece Soul, Blues and Groove band formed by bandleader and organist Ellis Howell. With original songs and covers arranged for the band, Howell’s Grooving Castle bridges classic Hammond-Soul with modern Neo-Grooves. Featuring the incredible Amy Winehouse/Emma Nissen influenced vocal and songwriting talents of Alice Maffs, the band is: guitarist Joe Tzabar (Beyond the Blue), drummer George Milnes (Five ‘til Seven, Sungrass), bassist Joe Kooreman (Trick Stack), trumpeter/flugelhorn Alys Kemmitt, trombonist Alice Cleak and tenor saxophonist Tom Leaverland. These veterans of the Bristol jazz scene come together for a sound and energy not to be missed.
