Lau-Land Online at Online
£32.70 incl. bf

A event on Saturday 27th March. The event starts at 10:30.

This three-part all-dayer offers folk musicians the chance to collaborate with “the musically adventurous trio in British folk” (The Guardian) in online masterclasses, to make new musical connections, and play with the band and like-minded others as Lau recreate the social atmosphere of a music-making pub session.

Suitable for any players of intermediate to advanced level.

Event Programme
Morning Sessions: 10:30-11:15
(Break 11:45-12:30)

Aidan O’Rourke: Intermediate to advanced fiddle. Learn new tunes and techniques to help your interpretation become distinctive.

Kris Drever: Song accompaniment on guitar or other instruments.

Martin Green: Harmony for folk tunes- examining interesting approaches to adding harmony to traditional tunes. Any instrument is welcome.

Afternoon Sessions: 14:00-16:30
(Break 14.45-15:15)

Masterclass with Lau: An insight into Lau’s unique approach to music-making. Lau will explain their arrangement and performance processes and demonstrate how they make their distinct sound.

Participants can also bring tunes and ideas to the session which we can workshop together – we will invite contributions via email / social media in the run up to the event.

Evening Session: 20:00-21:30
Performance and open session with Lau. Lau will perform a short acoustic set, followed by an open participatory session led by the band. Lau have profoundly missed the social aspect of music-making, and as part of Lau-Land, they will recreate the atmosphere of a pub session. Music for the songs and tunes will be made available in advance so that participants can prepare and join in with confidence!
