A event on Sunday 10th October. The event starts at 18:00.


This is a live, online cook-along as part of the launch of Stephen Lightbown’s, second poetry collection The Last Custodian. Set in a post apocalypse world where the last survivor on Earth is Luke, a paraplegic.

Stephen will be joined by nutritionist Harriett Eldridge (RootedLiving.co.uk) who will start the event with a twenty minute live guided, apocalypse themed cook along!

The cook along and poems will be BSL interpreted and copies of poems can be made available in advance on request.

Chicken, Kale & Bean Stew (serves 4)

Ingredients
1 tbsp coconut oil
4-6 chicken thigh fillets (skinned & boned)
1 large onion
2 cloves garlic
3 sticks celery
2 medium carrots, diced
1 tin cherry tomatoes
Smoked Paprika
1 litre chicken or vegetable stock
1 tin butter beans, drained & rinsed
1 cup sundried tomatoes, chopped
1 bag chopped kale
2 Bay leaves
*Salt & pepper

Once the meal has been made, there will be a chance to eat whilst Stephen shares poems from the book.

This is an event not to be missed. Beaming in to your own kitchen (or post apocalyptic campfire) on Sunday 10 October from 6pm.

Stephen Lightbown is a Blackburn born, Bristol based poet. Paralysed following an accident in 1996 when he was 16 Stephen uses his poems to give a voice to his disability. He has spoken at events across the UK and at festivals such as Shambala, Womad, Camp Kin and Lyra Bristol Poetry Festival. Stephen is the author of two poetry collections The Last Custodian and Only Air and in August 2021 he performed his first commission for theatre, a piece about applying for the PIP disability benefit. Stephen is also trying to find a home for his first middle grade novel and is the Chair of the international dance company Candoco. Harriett Eldridge is a Registered Nutritional Therapist specializing in Disordered Eating, Obesity, and Digestive Health. Harriett helps people reconnect with their bodies and improve their relationship with food. Harriett provides a science-backed, holistic approach to mental and physical wellness.
