Open Studios 2026 at Spike Island
See event details

A event held at Spike Island on Friday 1st May. The event starts at 11:00.

Spike Island is delighted to present Open Studios 2026, our hugely popular annual event offering free behind-the-scenes access to our 80,000 sq ft arts space across a vibrant weekend of exhibitions, events and activities.

This year’s Open Studios is especially significant as it celebrates 50 years since Spike Island was founded as Artspace Bristol in 1976.

From 1–3 May, visitors are invited to explore the building’s network of artist studios, galleries and creative businesses within the former tea-packing factory, including the UWE Fine Arts studios and Spike Print Studio, the largest open-access print studio in the South West. With much of the building usually closed to the public, this is a rare chance to see works-in-progress, meet artists and buy original artwork.

Food and drink will be available across the site from Bristol street-food favourites including Tasty Ragga and Jim’s Pizza, alongside Spike Island café Emmeline. We’re also continuing our collaboration with Left Handed Giant brewery, launching New Edition, a special IPA created to celebrate Spike Island’s 50th year.

The weekend will celebrate the past, present and future of Spike Island’s creative community, with opportunities to support our 50th anniversary fundraiser, including chances to win unique artworks by Spike Island artists.

Open Studios is the perfect way for visitors of all ages to discover, celebrate and support Bristol’s internationally renowned art scene.

Free entry, donations welcome.
