A event on Tomorrow. The event starts at 19:00.
With the current US and Israeli attacks on Iran and the start of a new Israeli assault on Lebanon these powers are hoping to reshape the Middle East in their interests. It is part of a new and more dangerous phase of predatory imperialism, bringing chaos, destruction and instability to both the region and beyond.
But this involves a huge gamble by these gangster states, one in which a protracted war opens up multiple new possibilities for mass resistance from below. The memory of the revolutionary explosions of the Arab spring of 2011 continue to haunt the imperial strategists. And just a quarter of Americans support the war on Iran.
How might we understand this horror show as part of a wider crisis in the global system, especially in terms of the hegemonic decline of the US empire?
What exactly are the prospects for the emergence of mass struggle by ordinary people like we've seen in past revolutionary periods including the Iranian revolution of 1979? Can we realistically envisage a coming together of the oppressed and exploited across the region? What can we do here in the UK to resist the war drive?
Come along and join in the discussion.
SPEAKER: Hussein Said.
