"Unmissable classical guitar from the Mexican maestro en route to international acclaim. We’re lucky to have Morgan Szymanski in town, lending the romantic timbres of South American folk to the refined airs of contemporary composers in dazzling displays of deft fretwork. A revelation FFO: John Williams, Leo Brouwer, Julian Bream, Antonio Lauro."

Internationally acclaimed Mexican guitarist Morgan Szymanski— Described as “a player destined for future glories” by Classical Guitar Magazine— brings his celebrated Sounds of Mexico programme to Bristol for a rare, intimate concert at St Stephen’s Church, ahead of his upcoming performance at London’s National Gallery.
Morgan was trained at the National Music School (Mexico) and Edinburgh Music School before winning a scholarship to study at London’s Royal College of Music under Carlos Bonell and Gary Ryan, graduating with first-class honours. He has won numerous awards, including first prize at Mexico’s National Guitar Competition, and scholarships from the Tillett Trust, Leverhulme Trust, FONCA, and others.
Morgan has performed worldwide in prestigious venues like Wigmore Hall, Cadogan Hall, Queen Elizabeth Hall, the Royal Opera House, and the London International Guitar Festival. He is recognised as an ambassador for Mexican culture, blending classical repertoire with vibrant Mexican traditions in a style that captivates audiences.
Opening the evening is a site-specific soundscape installation by Bristol-based conceptual guitarist Pablo Jiménez-Moreno, who uses custom-built light and distance sensors to translate the architecture of St Stephen’s Church into immersive electric guitar sounds.
This is an unmissable opportunity to experience world-class classical guitar in an intimate setting, paired with cutting-edge sound art — a captivating evening for lovers of both classical music and experimental sound.
