IM DUNKELN | Photographs from the Dark Side of the

IM DUNKELN is a deeply evocative exploration of the shadows of ourselves: an encounter with the calmness of a distant gaze, transfixed on us from across the horizons of our consciousness.
These photographs, more akin to delicate etchings and finely crafted drawings, explore a world of emotions and perceptions that feel familiar to us all. Seemingly within our grasp, their substance remains mysterious and illusive, not readily categorized and tantalisingly out of reach of our rational understanding.
Not an exhibition in the conventional sense, these images are embedded in the novel photographic performance concept of fine art photographer Claudio Ahlers’ one-of-a-kind gallery STILL at the artist’s unique home in Greenbank, Bristol.
Original music, theatrical and music performances, poetry, sound and costume design are woven together to let audiences experience photography in new, sensuous, intimate and meaningful ways.
At the same time a communal rite of art contemplation at the public private view and a rare opportunity for individuals or smaller groups to walk straight into an artist’s creative soul at arranged private performances, STILL is an experience like no other.
