Angel Bat Dawid

Angel Bat Dawid (she/her) is a Chicago-based composer, conductor, clarinetist, pianist, vocalist, DJ, and recording engineer with over 35 years of professional experience. A 2025 United States Artist Fellow and current Artist in Residence at Northwestern University’s Black Arts Consortium, Dawid is recognized as an Afrofuturist artist. Her practice utilizes speculative aesthetics and technology to bridge historical scholarship with contemporary production, documenting and advancing Black musical lineages.

As a classical composer and conductor, Dawid specializes in large-scale works utilizing formal orchestration. Her 14-movement composition, The Souls of Black Folk Suite, premiered at the Harris Theater in 2026. This followed Blk Metropolis Apocalypse, a work commissioned by the string ensemble D-Composed and premiered at Theaster Gates’ Land School. Her expertise as a conductor is rooted in spontaneous composition, directing ensembles through complex arrangements that merge formal scores with improvisational rigor.

Dawid’s technical proficiency in recording engineering and scoring is central to her work. She composed for Season 2 of Terence Nance’s HBO series, Random Acts of Flyness, and has scored for Adidas, independent films, and festivals. Her debut album, The Oracle—which she produced, performed, and engineered entirely herself—was released via International Anthem Recording Company to critical acclaim from NPR, The Guardian, and DownBeat. She also produced and mixed the collaborative album Journey to Nabta Playa with interdisciplinary artist Naima Nefertari on Spiritmuse Records. Her collaborative credits include André 3000, Moor Mother, Lonnie Holley, Saul Williams, and Shabaka Hutchings; she has also maintained a five-year residency on NTS Radio dedicated to Black music documentation.

An established global performer, Dawid’s international tours have reached Europe, Japan, Brazil, and South Africa. Her history includes performances at Carnegie Hall, the Barbican Centre, Newport, and Montreal International Jazz Festivals, with a 2026 premiere at the Western Front Art Centre in Vancouver, BC.

“The debut from the Chicago-based composer and clarinetist serves as a vibrant, spiritual, free-jazz document of black life as it stands today.” - Shannon Effinger, Pitchfork (8.0 rating)

“If there’s any recent jazz album that embodies the old adage ‘lightning in a bottle,’ this is it.” John Murph, Downbeat Magazine on LIVE Angel Bat Dawid & Tha Brothahood International Anthem Records (2020)

Vanessa Bedoret

Vanessa Bedoret is a London-based French violinist, vocalist and composer. She integrates her classical background to experimental production, as a means to shape intimate and cinematic compositions. Treating songwriting as an instinctive process, Vanessa transforms her deeply personal experiences into pure emotion.

Vanessa began her classical training at age 6 and on completion at 18 she embraced the thrill of playing guitar and bass in punk bands, and like many at the turn of adulthood, was quickly captured by the allure of the dancefloor. Her deep understanding of musical form elevates her experimentation to a truly unique sonic experience, one that never strays too far from her original love of classical music.

She joined Scenic Route, a label renowned for selecting and nourishing rising stars for the release of her debut album, Eyes, out on 8th of March 2024. Boomkat described the record as “a timeless bouquet of raptures and ballads iced with shearing strings and shatterproof electronics” whilst Fader called it “sleek, avant-garde reconstructions of club music — think Björk produced by Mica Levi”.

Previously releasing on independent labels like Laura Lies In and Archaic Vaults, her refined skill set has meant she’s been in high demand for both solo shows and collaborations. These accolades include playing violin with New York avant garde collective Standing On The Corner at The Serpentine, as well as a part of Kahil El’Zabar conducts MOKI at the ICA with Neneh Cherry, and Linder: Another Music in a Different Arcadia at the Design Museum alongside artist Linder Sterling, Naima Cherry, Maxwell Sterling, Kenichi Iwasa & Ella Frears.

In 2023 and 2024, she accompanied Astrid Sonne for her new album Great Doubt’s tour, as a string trio with Astrid and cellist Emma Barnaby

For her solo performances, she’s performed at venues such as Cafe Oto and the ICA in London, and shared stages with Lorenzo Senni, Nourished by Time, Chanel Beads, Mark William Lewis, Voice Actor, Ekaterina Bazhenova-Yamasaki, John T. Gast and Nexcyia to name a few.

After the critical acclaim of ‘Eyes’ Vanessa is back in the studio working on her opus, to be released on Scenic Route.
