A event on Sunday 6th July. The event starts at 14:00.

Shakespeare writes for Women, believes in women and often makes them the hero of the story.

In this workshop we will explore some of Shakespeare’s strongest women: Portia, Rosalind and Viola, as they take a huge risk in society to buck the norm and dress as a man to enable them to speak freely and drive the narrative they have been deprived of as a woman in society.

Come play, explore and see how heroic and powerful Shakespeare’s writing for women is!

The Actors’ Workshop Bristol has built a unique reputation for teaching and performing Shakespeare – it lies at the very heart of our work. All students receive extensive training in classical verse.

Our productions of Twelfth Night in 2023 and Macbeth in 2024 at the Loco Klub, Temple Meads were sold out and hugely well-received. Directed and designed by Jennifer Higham & Clara Marullo and performed by graduating members of our Foundation Course in Acting, these fresh, innovative productions focused on making the storytelling relevant to a contemporary audience without ever compromising the verse.
